Bono goes operatic

Bono gets busy with Zucchero and announces the winnng design of the new U2 studios

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 03 Sep 2003

Bono is set to guest on the new album by Italian superstar Zucchero.

A collection of opera duets, it also features the very diverse talents of Eric Clapton, Sting, Dolores O'Riordan and Ronan Keating.

It's not the first time that Bono and Zucchero have traded arias, with the pair performing 'Miserere' together at the 2003 Pavarotti & Friends concert in Modena, Italy.

Back in Dublin, Burdon Dunne/Craig Henry architects have won the competition to build the "twisting tower" that will house U2's new studios. A replacement for their Hanover Quay complex which is being bulldozed, the "symbolic landmark at the end of Sir John Rogerson's Quay is intended to be a new interface between the solidity of the docklands area and the ever-moving landscape of the tidal Liffey and Dodder rivers."

U2 will occupy the top two floors of the Britain Quay building which was green lighted ahead of 500 other designs.
