The tabloids were aflutter earlier this week at the idea that Bono might be working on the forthcoming Spice Girls record. Unsurprisingly, it's not at all true...
Bono has denied that he’s penning a new track for the Spice Girls’ Greatest Hits CD and DVD.
Says manager Paul McGuinness: “We’re great fans of the Spice Girls, but rumours that Bono is to join them as a sixth member are sadly not true.”
Somebody who does fancy collaboration with the ladies is Mark Ronson who’d love to get his fader-fingers on ‘Stop’.
In other U2 news, fans can look forward to a special 20th Anniversary Edition of The Joshua Tree.
Hotpress.com understands that there will be three versions:
- A digitally re-mastered standard album in a ‘super’ jewel-case with a 24-page booklet
- A deluxe edition incorporating a 5” hardcover book with front and back wallets to house the two CDs and the 24-page booklet
- A limited edition of the above, which also includes a DVD of July 4 1987’s visit to the Paris Hippodrome and the Barry Devlin produced Outside It’s America concert film.
Finally, if you spotted Larry Mullen Jr. at Underworld’s recent Tripod gig that’s because he’s the guest drummer on one of the tracks from the dance merchant’s new Oblivion With Bells album, ‘Boy, Boy, Boy’.
