Likely to be a new digital music format.
They caused quite a music industry stir when they gave their new album away to half a billion iTunes users this month, but it seems U2 are preparing to really shake things up.
There has been much talk that Songs Of Innocence would merely be the start of a long-term partnership with Apple and now Bono has confirmed that they are working on a "secret project" with the tech behemoth.
While details are sketchy, it appears to be likely that it is a new digital music format aimed at aiding artists that don't make money from live performance. It will focus on how albums are 'packaged' and is said to be television-ready.
"Songwriters aren’t touring people," Bono tells TIME. "Cole Porter wouldn’t have sold T-shirts. Cole Porter wasn’t coming to a stadium near you."
