Bear Witnness

THE FIRST BATCH of acts have been confirmed for this year’s Witnness festival which takes place at Fairyhouse Racecourse on August 4th and 5th.

Stuart Clark, 10 May 2001

The headline attractions include Paul Weller, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and – as exclusively revealed last month in hotpress – Stereophonics.

Joining them on the bill are James, Tindersticks, The Frames, Alabama 3, The Avalanches, Richard Fearless (DJ set), Slam (DJ set), the keds and 40 other acts who’ll be confirmed over the coming weeks.

New this year are a Comedy Stage, and camping facilities for 10,000 people.

If bought before June 16th, weekend tickets cost £59 or £69 including camping. Day tickets, meanwhile, are available for £36.50.

"I doubt there’s any festival in Europe offering such good value for money," says MCD’s Justin Green. "We’ll also be announcing details soon of the shuttle bus service that’ll be running to-and-from Dublin city centre."
