In the new issue of Hot Press, the fabled dance act discuss their new album, wild gigs and the current state of the game.
After a five year hiatus, dancefloor kings Basement Jaxx are back with a brand new album. Taking the time out talk to Eamon Sweeney in this fortnight's Hot Press, Simon Ratcliffe notes: "It was never a given to do another Basement Jaxx album in 2014 to be totally honest."
Junto – the Spanish word for ‘together’ – is, however, now with us and aa return to the sound that made them one of the foremost duos in music. Equally at home in the club or on the radio, its arrival was also perfectly timed.
“It definitely is a summer record,” says Ratcliffe. “It was great to get it out in time for our Bestival and Notting Hill Carnival shows.”
Ratcliffe discusses the projects that kept them busy during their absence from the charts, how the landscape changed in the interim, and reminisces about the raucous scenes that followed a Dublin show that lives long in the memory.
