CEO Tim Cook, with a little help from his Irish friends, introduced his tech company's latest line of gadgets to the world yesterday.
If plenty of the buzz was about U2 dropping their 13 studio album, Songs Of Innocence, in Cupertino, California, last night, there was plenty to please the tech heads as well.
Not only did Apple announce the new, streamlined iPhone 6 (which comes in two sizes), but also their first true innovation and completely new product since the passing of Steve Jobs.
The Apple Watch, a long rumoured and much anticipated wearable device, will be tethered to the iPhone and will focus on delivering health and fitness functions. It will come in three different lines, including a sports edition and a luxury model coated in 18-karat goal. It was announced that the starting price will be $349 with an early 2015 release planned, but when Irish Apple fans will be able to get their hands on it is currently unknown.
As for the iPhone 6, the standard model will boast a 4.7 inch screen, with the iPhone 6 Plus offering a 5.5 inch screen. The frame of the iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick, and the iPhone 6 Plus 7.1mm thick, while both have rounded sides and an improved camera. Both roll out this month.
Apple Pay, a new mobile payments service, was also announced.
