Amazing previously unseen material added to Philip Lynott Exhibition

Previously unseen, new original material is being added to the Philip Lynott Exhibition, currently running in Dublin, the organisers have announced.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 02 Jun 2011

The material has just been discovered, following the months of searching and probing, which began at the start of 2011.

Chief among the items is Philip Lynott's personal diary for 1972, which was previously undiscovered. It was located within the past week, by the former Thin Lizzy tour manager, Frank Murray.

"It is an amazing find," Niall Stokes, editor of Hot Press – who assembled and curated the exhibition – said. "Something of this kind provides a remarkable insight into the man, his hopes, dreams and ambitions. It also gives us a sense of how differently Philip's life might have turned out. It really is very special."

The diary seems to have been started as a new year's resolution – only January is completed but even in the over 30 entries, there are unique insights into Philip's personal and musical life.

"People will be fascinated by his thoughts about Gayle, one of the original loves of his life, and there is also a new, previously unseen lyric of a song-in-the-making, so it is a treasure trove," Stokes added. "When we put out the call to see what might be uncovered by people who worked with Lizzy or were close to Philip, this is exactly the kind of thing we had in mind."

Other newly discovered items going on display include private letters, postcards, badges, invitations, backstage passes, handwritten original song lyrics – and loads more...

The new material will be on display in The Philip Lynott Exhibition at the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, from this Saturday, June 4th. The exhibition opens at 10am.

The Dublin run of the highly acclaimed exhibition, at the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, is scheduled to end on June 12th for more go to www.philiplynottexhibition.com
