Adele reigns supreme in the Irish Indie chart

Arctic Monkeys fall just short of dethroning the queen...

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 10 Jun 2011

Showing admirable resolve, Adele has clung to the top spot of the Irish Indie chart yet again, fending off stiff competition from cheeky Sheffield scamps Arctic Monkeys, whose new album Suck It And See has entered at a very respectable second place.

21 remains at the very top of the ladder in its 20th week of release, while the arrival of the Monkeys sees Adele's 19 drop one place to No. 3. The resulting domino effect sees Ryan Sheridan's The Day You Live Forever also move downwards to No. 4 while Facebook-friendly Bell X1's Bloodless Coup drops two spots to No. 6.

Elsewhere, Oxegen-bound rockers The National climb a whopping seven places to take the No. 8 position with last year's excellent High Violet while Fleet Foxes lie just above them, non-movers at No. 7 with Helplessness Blues.

Fresh from impressing at Forbidden Fruit last weekend, Battles earn the honour of the second-highest new entry with Gloss Drop making its bow at No. 11.

Can anybody knock Adele off her perch? Find out next week!
