Coldplay to host charity exhibition
Funds raised will go to London charity Kids Company...
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 18 Oct 2012

UK act Coldplay have announced an exhibition of Mylo Xyloto artwork at London's Proud Camden Gallery. Funds raised will go to Kids Company, a charity which offers aid to vulnerable young people in the most deprived areas of London.
The show will feature three original canvas paintings by the band and their Mylo Xyloto artwork collaborator Paris, as well as the original 7m X 2.5m graffiti wall that eventually became the album artwork (see pic). Another painting by children from the charity and Paris will be displayed at the exhibition too.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin commented, “Kids Company is a phenomenal organisation that is very close to our hearts. While we were making the last album we did quite a lot of painting with our friend Paris. We built a special wall in our studio and sprayed it, wrote on it and threw things at it until it eventually became the artwork for Mylo Xyloto. This exhibition will be the first time that the wall has appeared in public."
The exhibition at Proud Camden Gallery launches on November 29.

Coldplay have had difficulty making the transition from indie favourites to stadium rock champions. Do you want the good or the bad news first? Here’s the bad news: Christmas came and went, the goose got fat and the bean counters at EMI got plain tetchy. Paralysed by self-doubt and pressure, Coldplay set in motion the album that was to make or break them. How impressive and honorable, then, that this is their most hearty, ambitious and effortlessly striking work to date. But as we all know, nothing good ever comes easy.
