CRC comedy line-up finalised

A gig this month will feature performances by Des Bishop and Ardal O'Hanlon...

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 15 Oct 2012

The Central Remedial Clinic, one of Ireland’s largest charities supporting children and adults with physical disabilities, has announced the final line-up for their comedy night at the Olympia Theatre on October 18.

Ireland's favourite adopted son, Des Bishop will MC the night, and other acts include Neil Delamere, David O’Doherty, Ardal O’Hanlon, Karl Spain, Aidan Bishop, Eleanor Tiernan, Eric Lalor, Joe Rooney, Chris Kent, Fred Cooke, Gearoid Farrelly, Ian Coppinger and Bernard O’Shea

Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster for €28.

Paul Kiely – Chief Executive for CRC, commented; "The CRC Comedy Night is now in its 15th year and every year the line-up gets bigger and better. The comedy night is one of the CRC’s biggest fundraisers and all the proceeds go towards providing free of charge services for children and adults with physical disabilities from all over the country.

"We couldn’t put on a showcase of the best comedians in the country without their support and for that we’re really grateful. Hopefully, people can grab the last few tickets available and make it a sell-out event again this year.”

The Bishop And The Bond

Channelling the grief he has experienced over the long illness and death of his father into comedy helped Des Bishop cope with the loss of a loved one. Now he has written movingly about his dad, a New Yorker who turned his back on showbusiness – having auditioned for the role of James Bond – to support his family. But alongside the affection there is also a deep ambivalence to be found in his memoir.
