McLoone, Dempsey & Kelly win big at Irish radio Oscars

The radio industry was out in force last night for the 12th annual PPI Awards, which took place at the Lynrath House Estate in Kilkenny.

Over 600 people from stations North and South attended the black tie event, which saw Radio Kerry’s General Manager and Programme Controller Fiona Stack pick up a well-deserved Outstanding Achievement Award.

The night’s other big winners were:

Music Programme General – Dermot & Dave (98FM)

Music Programme Specialist – The John Kelly Ensemble (RTÉ Lyric FM)

Breakfast Programme – The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show (Today FM)

Music Special – The Mid-Morning Show (Midwest Radio)

New Irish Music – Transmission With Colm O’Sullivan (Red FM)

News Programme – Morning Ireland (RTÉ Óne)

Current Affairs Programme – The Nolan Show (BBC Radio Ulster)

Speech Driven Programme General – Moncrieff Newstalk (106-108FM)

Entertainment Inserts – The Last Word (Today FM)

Specialist Music Broadcaster of the Year – Paul McLoone (Today FM)

News Broadcaster of the Year – Ainé Lawlor (RTÉ One)

Music Station of the Year – FM104

Local Station of the Year – WLR FM

Full Service Station of the Year – RTÉ Radio One
