First details of Belfast Music Week 2012 revealed

It runs from November 4 - 11...

Some of the island's finest artists will take to Belfast's best venues this November for a week of great live music and the first events have just been announced.

You'll find details of 12 events below taking place in the likes of The Black Box, The Empire and Limelight. Aside from Love Music Hate Racism shows and performances from Mick Flannery, Duke Special and Heathers, of particular note is a free event at the Limelight on November 8, which will see rising acts David C Clements, LaFaro, Katharine Philippa, Rams Pocket Radio, A Plastic Rose, Wonder Villains, VerseChorusVerse, More Than Conquerors, Ryan Vail, RunawayGO, Pretty Child Backfire and Tom McShane play in front of international representatives from the music business.

Here's the programme so far:

Sun 4 – The Black Box

The Shellac Collective with Duke Special, DJ78 and Greg. Vintage dance tunes on 78 rpm gramophones. Plus live music from the Wireless Mystery Theatre.

Sun 4 – Love And Death

Love Music Hate Racism – hip hop night with Bee Mick See, Cull, Gerard i2 plus DJs
Koncept and Monkphat. With special guests, Nathan Flutebox Lee and The Clinic. £4

Tues 6 – Oh Yeah

Make Noise - dance / recycling project with Radio 1’s Benjy B and DJ Ossie plus local acts. Entry free if you bring an electric / electronic piece of equipment for recycling.

Wed 7 – Group Space, Ulster Hall

The Sofa Sessions. Art, poetry and music, compered by Tracy Dempsey

Wed 7 – Palm House, Botanic Gardens

Robyn G Shiels and guests in an actual Victorian Palm House.

Wed 7 – The Empire Music Hall

An Evening Session with Paddy Casey, Katie and The Carnival. Free admission but you must apply in advance from www.facebook/giftedlive

Wed 7 – The Black Box
David Browne-Murray – CD launch of ‘Lift and Drag’
8pm, £5

Wed 7 – McHugh’s Basement

Soak, Rachel Austin and friends. £5

Thurs 8 – Limelight Complex

Sun 11 – Oh Yeah

Terri Hooley party with musical friends to celebrate the unveiling of the plaque that Belfast City Council will unveil in his honour. Free admission.

Sun 11 – The Empire

The Grand Ole Opry at The Empire, with Wookalily, The White Mansions, Elaine McConaghie and friends. £6
