Student special feature in new Hot Press

Us seasoned college vets give advice on cramming, eating well, budgeting, and of course - getting some sweet, sweet action!

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 22 Aug 2012

The new issue of Hot Press (out tomorrow) features a jam-packed student special feature, giving advice on everything from joining societies, saving money and studying efficiently, to coming out in college and having great (and safe) sex.

For the vast majority of university virgins, college marks your first real taste of independence, a change you will probably embrace with style and decorum. Or perhaps not...

Check out this issue for the full guide of what to expect in college, along with a list of challenges to encourage you to adapt, explore and hopefully survive life as a student. Whilst budgeting will come to be a huge part of your student life, remember that some things, like your round at the bar and contraceptives (often in that order) are not to be scrimped on. Yes they can be expensive, but raising a child costs far more!

Coming to college however also provides you with a fresh start, as you meet people over the next few weeks and months who have no preconceptions of who you are so now is your chance to carve out an identity for yourself that you’re completely comfortable with. For you, this could entail a ‘coming out’ period and joining societies like the LGBT society is a great way to meet like-minded individuals from all walks of life.

Read more about the joys and notorious realities of your years in college in the new Hot Press (Robert Smith cover) this Thursday.
