Coldplay working on special treat for Irish fans
Yup, there's a free live album on the horizon!
Fans attending Coldplay’s September 14 show in the Phoenix Park may get more than they’d bargained for, with Chris Martin revealing that they’re hoping to give away a free album at the 40,000-capacity gig.
“We’re playing a lot of shows this summer,” he explains to The Sun, “and what we’d like to do is, bearing in mind the recession we’re in, record the live album then give it as a gift. We’re just trying to work out how to do that. It’s obviously a bit tricky in terms of record contracts and things but it would be great. It’s a way of saying ‘thank you’. It’s a tough economy and people are paying a lot of money for tickets. We’re trying to work out a way that, when you hand your ticket in at the door, you get given the recording. It would be such a cool thing to do.”
