Vesta Varro making waves in Canada
Limerick coming men Vesta Varro have been making quite an impression on their latest trip to Canada.
Thus far, the band have 'survived two winter storms and played two fantastically well-received gigs' in Toronto.
Torontoindie.com had this to say of their performances: "To start off, they blew my mind. Vesta Varro have so much more energy and enthusiasm on stage than most of the bands I’ve seen since I started going to shows here in Toronto. Vocalist Damien Drea has one amazingly gripping stage presence; he captivated the audience from the start and didn’t let us go until the end of their set. The rest of the band members Keith Forde (guitar), Peter Forde (guitar), Rod Smith (bass), and
Shane Lee (drums) showcased some great musicianship. Vesta Varro are more than welcome to come back and rock my socks off any time they want. Seriously, I mean it."
They've also had the honour of Billy Talent guitarist Ian D'Sa DJing at their pre- and aftershow parties and been interviews by highly influential new rock radio station THE EDGE 102.1.
Two more shows are planned in Toronto on St. Patrick's Night.
There's been success on the home front too, with VV being one of 20 selected finalists in the Vodafone 'Bright New Sounds' band competition. Their single 'Pyramid Clocks', along with the other 19 finalists' offerings, can be downloaded for free at www.vodafone.ie
