Shimmy Marcus confirmed for Music Ireland

Up-and-coming Irish director Shimmy Marcus has been confirmed for the Music Ireland show in the RDS on October 6 and 7.

Already compared to both Tarantino and Kubrick, Shimmy Marcus's film career began when he won the Miramax Script Writing Award in 1999 for his feature script Headrush. The completed film, which he directed, has since won a variety of International awards including Best Feature at festivals in Michigan and New York and most recently at the Braunschweig Film Festival, where it received the highest audience vote in the seven years of the competition.

He began directing with a FilmBase/RTE Script Award for his short film 7th Heaven which went on to win awards at festivals in New York and the UK. His feature documentary Aidan Walsh - Master Of The Universe which he also produced and co-edited became the first Irish documentary made on video to receive theatrical and video distribution. More awards followed for his contribution to the feature documentary Imagining Ulysses.

Among the many bands he has directed videos for include the Fun Lovin' Criminals, Snow Patrol and Repubic of Loose.

He is currently developing a raft of new scripts while preparing to shoot his next feature.

Marcus will participate in the panel discussion 'Music In Movies, TV & Advertising' on Saturday October 6 at 4pm.

To get Music Ireland 'Access All Areas' weekend tickets in advance (€15 ticket allows access on Sat 6th & Sun 7th Oct), see http://www.ticketmaster.ie/promo/o3c98o
