Pony Club take the Michael
The Minister For Justice Equality & Law Reform, Michael McDowell, finally proves that he’s good for something by gracing the cover of the new Pony Club single, ‘Diplomat’.
“We wanted something a bit different for the cover and one of the lads said, ‘What about a politician?’” Manager John Carroll explains.
“Michael McDowell had just been elected leader of the Pds, so he got the nod. If we were doing it now, of course, it’d have to be Bertie!”
Sadly, there’s nothing slanderous in the lyrics, which really are about a diplomat.
“No, there’s nothing for his lawyers to get excited about,” Carroll rues.
The first taster from Mark Cullen’s Post Romantic album, which follows in early 2007, the track is only available at the moment through iTunes.
“The physical singles have just gone to media, but we’ll probably put it in the shops just before the album release. Phantom FM have made ‘Here Comes The Music’ by Mark’s previous band, Fixed Stars, their theme tune, so there’s a nice bit of a buzz building.”
