The term 'reunion' might be a bit generous seeing as it won't be the full five original members taking part in this anniversary tour.
That is if this anniversary tour ever does happen!
With Spice Girls hysteria bubbling up as the 20th anniversary of their breakout hit 'Wannabe' happening next week, fans were hoping that there would be some occasion to mark the memory on time. Well, there will be no such thing happening in time for next week according to Scary Spice, Mel B. Speaking on a US chat show, Melaine Brown admitted that preparations to mark the anniversary had fallen behind; "It is our 20th anniversary this year and this would be the perfect year, but places get booked out this year, so what we’ll hopefully do is planning on doing something to celebrate next year."
After the Spice Girls released 'Wannabe' in 1996, they dominated the pop world globally. The best-selling female group of all-time, Spice Girls sold over 80 million albums and achieved the same hysteria of Beatlemania. Their performance at the 2012 London Olympic Games was the last performance by the original band members and no more reunions were anticipated after that. Fans were delighted to hear that there would be a reunion tour to mark the Spice Girls 20th Anniversary but Mel C (aka Sporty Spice) and Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) have decided not to participate.
They're due to be replaced but by who, no indications have yet been given. However, Mel B, Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) have jumped aboard the reunion tour. Mel B assured fans however that a reunion tour will happen and she's anxious to get things underway asap; "It’s something that we want to do and it will be nice to kind of celebrate and give back to all the fans and stuff," Scary Spice quipped, “I’m not getting any younger. Let’s hurry up and get this done!”
