In commemoration of the centennial of the Easter Rising, Palm has focused his attention on one specific Irish built ship known to have seen action during the Easter Rebellion
Duke Street Gallery will host 'Myths of the Helga' an exhibition by renowned artist Brian Palm which will be officially opened by the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Service, Commodore Hugh Tully.
In commemoration of the centennial of the Easter Rising, Palm has focused his attention on one specific Irish built ship known to have seen action during the Easter Rebellion. This graceful and useful cruiser, “HMY Helga” has an un-envious place in the annals of Irish history, as fate would ironically cast her in a malevolent role during what should have been her “finest hour”.
British Ambassador Dominick Chilcott, members of the British Defence Attaché and the Irish Defence Force will be in attendance on the night.
The after party will be hosted in the Red Bank Wine Tavern 1736 (basement level, 17 Duke Street) with live music from Mick Pyro, Ger Kiely and special guests.
