I'm With You
The third single from Canadian whirlwind Avril Lavigne’s debut album sticks very much to the ‘Great Record Company Blueprint For Success’. Following the sweat and bluster of the very good ‘Complicated’ and less impressive ‘Sk8r Boi’, ‘I’m With You’ is the archetypal ballad, the young Canuck laying on the teenage angst with gusto as she wonders “Why is everything so confusing/Maybe I’m just out of my mind”. A little contrived for my tastes, although if I had kids, I’d rather they were listening to this than the fucking Cheeky Girls any day.
