Kate Bush: “And So Is Love” (EMI)

There was a time when no matter what Kate Bush sang about it was always uplifting. ‘And So Is Love’ is by no means a bad record but it is a sad one. Okay the sentiments are fairly gloomy: everything is sad and so is love, but despite the courage Kate brings to her vocals there’s seems to lurk in the sub-text despondency and depression where there should be joy and hope.

Yes, there really is a new Kate Bush album, a double album no less, though even while listening to it one can scarcely believe such a thing has come to pass.
