7 Nation Army
The return of Jack and Meg is the sonic rock ‘n’ roll tour de force we hoped for, and then some. The rhythm is contagious enough that even chubby white boys like yours truly are tempted to shake a leg. The guitar cajoles and crashes in equal measure, and then Jack White’s voice almost bleeds into focus, waxing lyrical about the Queen of England and the hounds of hell. Another flawless slice of rock ‘n’ roll brilliance from The Stripes, backed up by a frenetic run-though of Brendan Benson’s brilliant ‘Good To Me’ and traditional murder ballad, ‘Black Jack Davey’. Yes, yes and yes again. Fucking magic.
