A sort of homecoming for the one time Dun Laoghaire resident on his “short tour of County Dublin” .

Colm O Hare, 06 Nov 2003

A sort of homecoming for the one time Dun Laoghaire resident on his “short tour of County Dublin” (which, he informed us, brought him to places he’d never set foot in before – such as Blanchardstown and Ballymun!).

Highlights included his version of Mike Scott’s ‘Sonny Sailor Boy’ – a song he has made his own, as well as his brilliant take on L L Cool J’s ‘I Need Love’. Fine versions of U2’s ‘Bad’, Bob Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’ and his own ‘Bogman’ were also well received.

Incidentally, this was a strictly non-smoking gig “at the request of the artist”. No-one in the packed house seemed to mind – food for thought perhaps, for the publicans currently fulminating over the impending apocalypse – as they see it!
