Seismic Sounds

Seismic represents their support of dance music’s two most modern styles – dance floor breaks and dark, techy house

Richard Brophy, 27 Sep 2001

Kingsize might have originally come to prominence releasing ‘big beat’ records, but there’s nothing retro or dated about Seismic Sounds, the Hersham label’s fourth compilation. In fact, rather than dwell on former glories, Kingsize have gone out on a limb of late and Seismic represents their support of dance music’s two most modern styles, namely dance floor breaks and dark, techy house.

Mixed by nu skool star Mark ‘Meat Katie’ Pember, the mix includes deep spacey, house from Sir Drew and Chicken Lips as well as more menacing 4/4s from Phil Kieran, Switchkraft and Peace Division with growling bass heavy breaks from Meat Katie and Disco Assassins. A dark, essential sign of the times.
