Lemon Jelly are Nick Franglen and Fred Deakin. (You can see why a clever name was important.) Their first three EPs remain highly sought for both Fred’s stunning screen-printed artwork and the nine tracks now collected here on CD for the first time.

Nine tracks with one eye on their clubbing heritage and the other on your lips – these boys want to see you smile. Not comedy music as such, but with humour rich in its orchestral veins, the Lemon Jelly sound is thankfully devoid of gorgonzola and full of outrageously silly voices. From the kitsch ‘In The Bath’ to the Carry-On antics of ‘Page One’ – you can’t help grinning. Almost as much as upon learning Fred was once a
gardener to the stars, until a bridge he built for Freddie Mercury collapsed while the Queen
was crossing.
