Between Voices
Anti Atlas make orchestral chillout music, which is – mercifully – far less bland and syrupy than the label might suggest.
Anti Atlas make orchestral chillout music, which is – mercifully – far less bland and syrupy than the label might suggest. Gloopy new-age ambience is kept to a minimum, as the group instead opt to ride on a wave of soft, sculpted, harmonic sound. The opening two tracks are particularly spellbinding: first ‘Wait For Me’ with its deft jazz drums and light, wafting electronics; then, ‘It’s A Shame’, which includes some clear, airy piano and a gorgeous vocal performance from Gemma Hayes. An oceanic delight.
