Backroads To Buzantium
Reborn Irish rockers release anthemic new album.
Steeped in NWOBHM sensibilities and full to the brim of dueling guitars and soaring vocals, Glyder’s fourth record Backroads To Buzantium represents something of a rebirth for the highly-regarded Wicklow lads. Featuring a new singer (NI’s Jackie Robinson) and rhythm section (bassist Graham McClatchie and drummer Des McEvoy) the album is an absolute riot to listen to, with ‘Fade To Dust’ and ‘Don’t Make Their Mistake’ in particular sounding like future arena anthems. ‘Down & Out’ is a welcome detour down the alleyway marked AOR and ‘Something She Knows’ is a pop-rock song that the current incarnation of Journey would sell their wigs for. Beyond doubt Glyder were right to carry on glyding.
