Oxegen report: Sunday
After the weather tested the mettle of Oxegen-goers, the focus of the Sunday was back to the music.
The day began with plenty of action from the new crop of Irish acts, with the Deloretos vs Leya dilemma proving difficult. Then on the main stage, Director entertained fans with tunes like the top 10 hit 'Reconnect'. They were followed by a newly hatted Maximo Park (pictured).
BellX1 proved themselves highly generous people, as Paul Noonan dished out marshmallows to toast on a "cold, dark night", to quote the crowd-pleaser 'Flame'.
Further on in the day, Kaiser Chiefs tested out their new material on the crowd with frontman RIcky Wilson asking: "If you think it's a hit, shout 'it's a hit'". After a very audible affirmation, he added: "If you think it's a miss, keep quiet."
The set of the following act, Franz Ferdinand, finished just in time for the infamous World Cup penalties, which were shown on the main stage.
Backstage, word has it that communal showers for the bands caused much embarrassment, with bands having to keep to avert all eye (and other) contact - Hope Of The States and The Cribs being but two bands who will pretend it never happened when they see each other next.
With Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul Weller,Rodrigo y Gabriela, Sigur Ros, Humanzi and Mylo wrapping things up for another year, we can only wonder whether next year's line up will be able to top this stunner.
