Can we bring cans of beer into the site? (I know that glass bottles are banned!).

Hide your pre-rolled spliffs in the elastic of your underwear, like a bullet belt. Do not trust anyone sporting a moustache. Don't make any noise or drink during Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man's set.
Wavey Gravey Upstate NY
You can take this with however many grains of salt you want but stay away from the brown acid. But hey, its your trip...
The Serpent Limerick
Bring a crystal ball so you can tell when the acts are REALLY gonna be on stage, and a mobile phone car charger cos there's no electricity to charge your mobies!

The not so bare necessities says that you can bring cans but not bottles in and they'll take the tops off your bottles so i wouldn't use them unless you have spares in your bag!!! Also everyone should read that not so bare necessities thing cause it is really usefull

Is it still possible to get in / get your wristband etc if you happen to arrive at the campsite late at night, or do they only exchange tickets for wristbands during certain hours of the day? PLEASE ADVISE! I've to go see Frank Black in Temple Bar Music Centre before my full-on Witnness Weekend!

that lad who was asking how to get to punchestown from kildare station... there's no direct buses.u cud get a taxi but they'll prob b expensive, they were ripping people off for eminem. its about a 20 minute car journey. and if anyone is planning on walking from naas, as most did for eminem, its a good 30 minute walk. so be warned if ur planning on lugging a tent out. its a long old journey!

bring a pen! it might seem useless but in the event of meeting your idol strolling past you'll be cursing yourself if you dont have one!

Make sure you bring enough Food for Both Days,go to a Deli on the Friday or Saturday and get 4 or 5 Rolls,it'll save you a fair bit of money, cause the food in there is Brutal and VERY Expensive,I remeber paying 7 Euro for a Roll with 2 Sausages. And For Gods sake drink Wisely,I've seen too many people lying in mud on Saturday pissed off their skull cause they drank too much, and then have a crap Sunday. But most importantly, enjoy yerself :)

When setting up camp dont leave a bit of space between your tent and your friends tents. It seems like a good place to hang out that night but by the time you get back some plonker will have set up camp in your new garden.

Mark your tent! Put a poster/ribbon or something that differntiates it from the sea of green-domed shaped festival homes. How many times have I opened tents only to find random punters... And yes bring wet wipes they are invaluable!

Tayto crisps, vaseline (for chapped kissers), spare toe socks (to keep those lil piggies toasty), mozzy and muck repellent!, Solphedeine (neee-eeeded for hangover headaches), Suncream (the lobster-esque look is sooo last season!), nose plugs (essential for porta-loo pongs), ear plugs (you don't want to hear the geezer in the tent beside you snoring for Ireland), a BIG bottle of water, wet wipes (for adult babies and anyone else a bit mucky)......the list is endless really! Ciao....oooh flip flops, don't forget them!

if you're bringing loads of drink, beer, wine, bucky etc. drink the beer on the first day before it gets warm(nothing worse than warm beer)and then drink the rest on the second. last year made some enemies hogging a sink trying to cool down our beer. also don't pitch your tent straight away cos somebody you know will wimp out and sleep in the car and then just snatch his/hers. my tent hasn't come out of the bag it was bought in for the last 2 festivals. going for three in a row.

Think you're lookin good in your flared jeans? Stop, look and listen. Imagine your deadly denims ends after five minutes walking around the muddy fields or even worse, absorbing the questionable fluids and objects that inhabit the portaloos. Dress for the mess!!!
katiac, Down
Those variety packs of cereal, very cheap to buy, will fit in any rucksack and you can carry them around with you and eat like crisps and won't have to buy from the food vans which are a complete rip off!! very healthy too so you won't feel so bad about drinking all weekend.

a reliable guide to the day's events and line up.generally the one you buy on site isn't very accurate.you can find a good line up pull out in the Star newspaper that day, that is,if you're travelling on the saturday.nothing worse than missing a good band due to a bad line up guide.'
Ed's note: Who needs The Star when hotpress.com already features a day by day, stage by stage breakdown? Stage times will be going live as soon as they are announced, and what's more, hotpress.com will also be on the ball with the inevitable last minute My Gear Is On A Plane To Bratislava hitches to keep you up to date with line-up changes

bring spare bottle lids in your pockets if you're planning on bringing big litre bottles of water into the actual stage area. they take them off you at the gate in case you make weapons out of them or somesuch but then you can't put the bottle back in you bag so you have to drink it all, carry it around or chuck it. annoying. get into the pit early if you want any chance of being there for the later acts. oh and the back of the mosh pit is far more comfortable than the front of the bit behind it, if that makes sense. you're far less likely to be crushed. don't bring a big bag. just the essential and, most importantly, don't do what we did 2 years ago, and get our stuff locked in some one elses tent. you WON'T be able to ring them or find them until around 2 am. oh and have a fall back plan if your lose your mates, arrange to meet at a certain point at a certain time if you're lost. mobiles probably won't work inside the grounds and it's really hard to find people. the baby wipes idea is a great one. i even saw anti bacterial wet ones in boots the other day. i know it sounds nerdish but working out who you want to see before hand really does help. check the times the night before and make out a little schedule and you won't miss anyone you want to see. oh and last year, they had loads of suncream and after sun in the first aid tent so don't worry if you forget yours.

the drunk wants one... I have a backpack which has a bladder in it.I use it for mountain biking You can get a cheap one for 30 yoyos and it will hold about 2-3 litres of your favourite tipple. You can get them in any bike shop.....

Rather than cart jumbo bottles of suncream in an already full to bursting rucksack, get little travel bottles from Boots and fill with suncream / moisturiser / antiseptic cream etc. Bring plasters, painkillers, hayfever tablets . . . camping is not fun when you're in pain :)
purplestar, Dublin
Bring an extra pair of shoes! With all that walking from tent to bar to stage to tent, your feet will be killing you. A change of shoes on the Sunday will have you running about the place again in no time...
nono, Wexford
Get there early in the day. For a start, there's unlikely to be any traffic jams at 8 o'clock in the morning plus, you can then pick and choose the acts that you want to see, at your leisure. And there's loads of time to get your sun tan lotion properly rubbed in (by your partner, of course. Niiiiice and sloooooowly). Just be careful that you don't end up falling asleep after the massage!

For the light traveller: toilet paper, baby wet wipes *very handy for cleaning yourself in the absence of showers, or sinks in portaloos. Also better than any "deodorising wipes" as you don't, necessarily want to wipe your face or hands in deodorant. plastic bags (for keeping things dry, or keeping wet things from dry things), rain coat and sun screen - obviously
ear plugs - if you intend sleeping. Boots do brilliant ones, torch - for finding your tent/things inside your tent in the dark. Camping glow sticks will do the same thing, ID - if you look young
