The Paul Brady fanclub
The pop Svengali LOUIS WALSH’s association goes back to the ’60s when they were both active on the Irish ballroom circuit
“I really like Paul Brady as a writer and I have most of his albums. ‘Nobody Knows’ is probably my favourite song and I like ‘The Island’ a lot. I’ve always preferred listening to him on record rather than watching him play live. He never seems to be happy with his performance or with his sound. I always call him ‘Grumpy’ when I meet him – and please quote me on this! Ronan is a big fan. They wrote a brilliant song together, ‘The Long Goodbye’. He should write more commercial songs. We need more Paul Brady pop songs! I’m definitely going to go to Vicar St. to see him doing these gigs.”
