SATURDAY AND SUNDAY,
GREEN ROOM

12 noon Organic Music in a Digital Age, hosted by Line 6’s European product specialist – Ron Huisen.

For this year’s Music Ireland show MIDI have secured the services of Europe’s renowned demonstrator and product specialist – Ron Huisen from the Netherlands. Ron will concentrate on demonstrating the FloorPod, the KB37 sound card, the budget Variax guitars and the new line of Spider III amps. MIDI will have the Line 6 web site live throughout Music Ireland ‘06 to answer all your questions. There will be a draw for ALL of the new products being demoed – so you have the chance of picking up an early Christmas present!

1 pm Drum Masterclass with Conor Guilfoyle.
Conor Guilfoyle has worked with leading players on the jazz scene and is a member of several groups, including the innovative Guilfoyle/Neilsen Trio, which has received worldwide acclaim for its use of complex metric systems applied to standard material. He currently directs three Latin groups, is a member of Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers European touring band. Conor is a co-founder of the jazz programme at Newpark Music Centre. He has lectured in many of the leading colleges worldwide, including Berklee College of Music, Boston and the New School in New York. He wrote the drum tutors Rhythmic Reading For Drummers and Performance Patterns For Drumset. His latest book is called Odd Meter Clave. His classes were packed to capacity at last year’s show, so get there early!

2 pm Samba percussion workshop with Simeon Smith (maSamba school).
Percussion today is being used in many ways other than the merely musical. For some it’s the physical workout, for others it’s the hypnotic effect of continuous rhythms. In that regard, Latin-American percussion is becoming increasingly popular. The maSamba school is dedicated to collective music-making, creating opportunities for others to experience Latin-American music in an active and inclusive way. Activities include a youth samba project in the Pearse Street area of Dublin, samba drumming workshops for schools, youth projects, adult groups etc

3pm (Saturday only) Professional Tricks and Tips to Get a Kick-Ass Recording with Tony Perry, (Pulse Recording).
An increasing number of Irish artists are recording on home-based equipment. Tony Perry talks you through this Pulse Recording workshop during which he will share the professional tricks he’s picked up over the years and offer key tips to help you make a kick-ass recording at home (including drums, bass, guitar and vocals). He’ll show you money-saving methods for when recording in a studio; look at the technology in a pro studio that includes Beat Detective, Auto-Tune, tick-based audio, Vocalign and sound replacer, and answer all your queries in a Q&A session.

3pm (Sunday only) Guitar Workshop (John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd.) – with demonstrator/clinician Gavin Coulson and Guitar Guru Trev Wilkinson.
Now that guitars are back in pole position on the rock scene, this is likely to be one of the hottest sessions of the weekend. Gavin Coulson has an exceptional reputation as demonstrator, and we at Music Ireland are genuinely privileged to have Trev Wilkinson on hand. Wilksonson is not merely gifted in all things relating to the guitar, he is equally likely to entertain, tell stories, answer questions, and generally enlighten.
