Ukulele Hooley will return on August 26th and 27th for its 8th consecutive year
Tune up your strings and brush up on your Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. The world-famous Ukulele Hooley will be returning to Dun Laoghaire for a variety of quirky and family-friendly fun.
Best of all, the whole event is completely free.
The event has been named by Trivago as one of the “five great British and Irish events to attend in August”.
Dreamed up by local ukulele devotees who wanted to bring their passion to the public, this not-for-profit event has been delighting the community since its inception.
This year features the first-ever Big Ukulele Jam, where up to 3,000 ukulele players will descend on Dun Laoghaire for a mass tune-in.
The Hooley offers a host of music and related events across the weekend, including the Ukulele Hooley Open Air Concert in the People’s Park on Sunday, August 27th, which will feature acts from America, Italy, England, Scotland, Holland and Ireland.
The show will even go on the road with the Ukulele Bus Busk. A local favourite which will see over 70 ukulele players hop onto an open-topped double decker bus and tour the Dun Laoghaire to Killiney coast.
The event will also feature a variety of workshops and open mics where local amateurs can learn about the instrument and show off their strumming and singing skills.
The event is sure to be great family-friendly fun. Bring your ukulele and your smile.
