Ronan's Verbals
As the title says, it was certainly a most personal experience with one of Ireland’s favourite bands Royseven. The venue, 4 Dame Lane was packed to capacity. The atmosphere was electric with the fans eagerly waiting for the band to appear. After a superb introduction by Hot Press editor Niall Stokes, Royseven took to the stage in an explosion of sound and light. As the band rattled through their set, which included hit songs like “We Should Be Lovers”, ‘Killer’ and ‘No Romance’, twelve lucky HTC One Hot Press Photojournalist competition winners were busy snapping the show on their new 8 megapixel HTC One handsets.
The band’s frontman Paul Walsh put on a stellar performance for the aspiring photojournalists and the fans alike, as he danced in front of the stage to everyone’s delight. The photographers had an up close and personal view with a fantastic opportunity to capture the charismatic singer’s every move. Lead guitarist Sam Garland was inspiring, as he cranked his Marshall amps up to the max and came down from the stage to strut his stuff right into the HTC camera lens.
As the band finished their set, the night continued with DJ Goldie who pumped out the tunes until the small hours of the morning. Congratulations to Hot Press, HTC and Royseven for putting on an awesome night, not to be forgotten. And best of luck to the twelve finalists in the future.
