As one of the 12 finalists of the Hot Press HTC One competition, I was invited to 4 Dame Lane to participate in an intimate gig with Dublin's own Royseven.
On arrival, we all posed for pictures with our amazing new HTC One handsets, which we would be using to capture Royseven's performance in a chance to win the overall prize, to become the HTC One Hot Press photojournalist this summer. This would include photographing Dublin's finest festivals and concerts, including one of Ireland's best and biggest bands, Snow Patrol, Florence + the Machine, Forbidden Fruit and the highly anticipated, Electric Picnic, with our brand new HTC One handsets.
Once the band started, we all took our places to begin the photographic frenzy. The band blasted the tunes 'Every Line', 'Need to Know' and 'No Romance' while providing great theatrical dances, personalised band flag included, to the delight of the contestants and crowd. We all watched in awe as front man, Paul Walsh, jumped around the stage providing us with amazing footage and even stopping to see some of the picture's captured. Once the song, 'We Should Be Lovers' came on, the crowd went wild too and the show continued up and up from there. Ending their set with 'Dance' and 'Killer', it was needless to say that Royseven were the perfect choice for this event.
With music supplied by DJ Jesse Valentino and Goldie after the show, all the finalists continued to snap away at the crowd, interview members of the band – and enjoyed putting the amazing camera on the HTC One handset to good use in a prospect of capturing the electric atmosphere of the night.
