Warm Southern rock from the cold Northern town of Saskatoon, Canada. The Sheepdogs are a beardy, boogying proposition that have gone about things the old-fashioned way thus far. Chiefly, hitting the road and whipping up a fervent fanbase across the Atlantic. And, in 2011, these disciples of classic rock ended up gracing the front of a classic rock ‘n’ roll rag. Fending off competition from 15 other acts in a ‘Choose the Cover’ competition, they became the first unsigned act to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone. Atlantic Records promptly came a’knocking. Their fourth, self-titled, album debuted at the top of the charts in their home country and was produced by Patrick Carney, the man who bangs the drums in The Black Keys. Don’t be surprised if The Sheepdogs pull off a similar crossover and end up in an O2 near you very soon indeed.
Hear: that eponymous new record.
