If ever there was a good reason to pronounce Newbridge the most musically fertile town in Ireland, it's Knoxville Morning, a one-man-band turned nine-man-band turned 16-plus-man-band, led by singer songwriter Ciaran Dwyer. Fresh from – you guessed it! – a trip across the United States, the Band On An Island front man set about pouring his memories into an album, calling upon a mob of local musicians to help him do it (musicians who, by the by, count The Mighty Stef, Humanzi, We Are Losers and Super Extra Bonus Party among their previous projects). The result is a strikingly emotive collection of Americana-tinged folk, made all the more endearing by its ringmaster's shaky delivery. Expect, nay demand, Dwyer and his revolving cast of players to play a music venue near you before the season is out.
