If there's one thing Dublin does well, it's scruffy blokes with guitars, and, 21-year-old troubadour Gavin James is just that. Echoing supremely talented folk like Damien Rice and Glen Hansard, the fresh-faced soul machine possesses the power to hush a room purely with the sound of his voice – although not even Glen or Damo attempted to do so with Etta James' enduring throat-buster 'At Last'! Having spent his teenage years performing in Dublin pubs, the fearless Mr. James (no relation to the sadly departed Etta) released his debut EP in November and picked up an iTunes Achievement award for same the following month. There's just one question left; has anyone told Ed Sheeran that there's a new ginger in town?
See: him perform upstairs at Whelan's, Dublin with Mississippi man John Murry on January 27 and headline the main venue on February 8.
