Despite being proud advocates of the Corrs format, Anna McCarthy, Laura Finnegan, Nicola Cosgrove and Tony Higgins, collectively known as Corribside garage pop foursome DOTT, are obvious contenders for the title of Ireland's finest girl band. Boasting the kind of dreamy, lo-fi sound favoured by the Dublin forerunners like Squarehead and Tieranniesaur, the vintage-sounding quartet have found a perfect home in the ever-prolific Popical Island label, who by all accounts love a good sun-soaked party number. You'll hear flashes of alt. rock and doo wop in the foursome's debut EP (why again, did Pixies and The Ronettes never collaborate?), along with singalong hooks and beachy riffs to die for. Expect great things from their hotly-anticipated debut album, which drops some time this year.
