Women more likely to swing both ways
Highly-sexed women are 27 times more likely than men to become attracted to their own sex according to an article published in Psychological Science. The research, conducted by Dr Richard Lippa of California State University, found that 8% of highly-sexed women displayed bisexual leanings, whereas this was true for only 0.3% of men. Highly-sexed men were more likely to have more sexual experiences than the average male, but were unlikely to change their sexual orientation. According to well-known sex and relationship therapist Tracey Cox, sex with another woman is one of the most common sexual fantasies for most women.
Love amongst the desktops
As working hours get longer and corporate culture becomes more informal, more and more Irish people are likely to have a fling with a co-worker. A survey conducted by the recruitment website Monster.ie found that 31% of women and 28% of men admitted to falling in love with a colleague. This is up 10% from the same poll conducted by the website in 2005. While office relationships may becoming more common, Monster warns that staying professional, being jealous of one another’s careers, favouritism, office gossip and drama after a break-up all have to be taken into consideration before embarking on a romance.
Whisper sweet nothings to me, deeply
A report in the journal Hormones and Behaviour suggests that ovulating women prefer men with deep voices. The research investigated the attractiveness of men’s voices during the menstrual cycle and found that depending on the time of the month, women’s preferences vary. During ovulation, a man with a deep voice appears more attractive as his voice suggests a higher chance of reproductive success. The good news for blokes with more feminine voices is that women tended to find these voices more attractive during the rest of their menstrual cycle. A more feminine voice seems to indicate a more caring man, with whom it would be easier to establish a long-term relationship.

Sexton’s Miscellany:The Top 11 Sexiest Songs
Need some mood music to seduce the object of your affections. Well, here’s your playlist. According to Underground Online (www.ugo.com), these are the top 11 sexiest songs of all time.
11. The Divinyls: ‘I Touch Myself’
The first pop song to overtly discuss the act of self-satisfaction without reference to metaphors.
10. Heather Nova: ‘Walk This World’
It’s all in the oh-so-breathy delivery!
9. Carly Simon: ‘Nobody Does It Better’
Gets its place due to the use of the not so subtle double entendres.
8. Exile: ‘Kiss You All Over’
No thanks. Have you seen what they look like?
7. INXS: ‘Not Enough Time’
Surprisingly this one gets the nod and not ‘Need You Tonight.’
6. Depeche Mode: ‘I Want You Now’
Masters of sexy song. ‘In Your Room’, ‘Stripped’, ‘World in My Eyes.’
5. Pulp: ‘This is Hardcore’
Great song. Although I’ll admit I have an unnatural attraction to Jarvis Cocker.
4. Britney Spears: ‘Toxic’
The only decent song she’s done. Meeow.
3. Chris Isaak: ‘Wicked Game’
It’s all in the deep voice.
2. Nine Inch Nails: ‘Closer’
As subtle as a sledgehammer, but gets the message across. Great song but I think NIN’s ‘The Only Time’ is sexier by far.
1. Marvin Gaye ‘Let’s Get It On’
The sexy song that has it all – the music, the voice, the lyrics.
This Issues’s Top Sex Tip
If you are considering buying a sex toy, but are put off by lurid or flesh colours, consider going clear. Glass toys have some advantages over their plastic or latex cousins. They look somewhat more elegant, and they are non-porous and easy to clean. However their most important feature is that they can be heated and cooled.
A well-know trick during foreplay is to stimulate your partner by alternating hot and cold sensations. The same thing can the done with glass sex toys. Use hot tap water (boiled is much too hot!) and water chilled in the fridge.
Glass toys should be used with water-based lubes. You could continue the hot/cold theme using lubricates that heat up or cool down. Remember that glass is breakable so only use your toy in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.
