But while a shock of white can be lumped with any combination of fabrics and complexions and still work, the bleached-out white on white trend sends a very different message indeed. Crisp, bold, classic - take on this pearly tone head to toe and you’re instantly channeling ice queens and movie vamps.

In a way, it’s a trend that can leave you feeling quite exposed, especially for the fashionista who builds her wardrobe around clashing tablecloth prints (a great cover up for those inevitable chocolate stains), but it’s also effortlessly chic and empowering as hell - see Basic Instinct’s Sharon Stone and Marlene Dietrich’s iconic cream tuxedo.
