The most satisfying 90 minutes of Caught In The Net’s fortnight was spent watching guerilla filmmaker Brendan Toller’s I Need That Record! The Death (Or Possible Survival) Of The Independent Record Store documentary.
The winner of a mantelpiece full of film festival awards, it includes contributions from Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Dischord Records/Fugazi man Ian MacKaye, Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye, The Minutemen’s Mike Watt, and author/activist Noam Chomsky who may be 81 but still knows his Crystal Castles from his Crystal Antlers.

While we know diddly-squat about them apart from the fact that they’re American and have been to Machu Picchu on their holidays, CIN is seriously loving the Lycra bodysuited rEd and BLUE and grEen – they’re very particular about how it’s written – and their ‘Illegal Drugs’ video.
We may end up being heartbroken when we discover it’s a clever viral marketing campaign for Coca-Cola, but for the time being we’re treating them as if they’re the successors to Devo’s weird pop throne. Check them out at [link]www.redandblueandgreen.com[/link].
Dan Brown was right, strange things are afoot in The Vatican! The return (by very little popular demand) of Jpeg of the fortnight demonstrates how the Holy See is in fact a giant cock. CIN has known this for ages but, hey, it’s good to have pictorial proof.
