MIX 2008:Want to get ahead in the music industry?

A limited number of places are available for MIX 08 (Music Industry Xplained), the essential how-to course for anyone serious about seeking a career or an involvement in the music industry.

The Hot Press MIX 08 is for those seeking careers in, or already involved in, the music industry and music media - including of course musicians, managers, and anyone who wants to know more about the industry.

The course will give participants a practical overview of the workings of the industry and how they inter-relate.

MIX '08 is a 12-week series of lectures (one each week) by top professional exponents from the Irish and international music industry. Lecturers include Willie O'Reilly (Managing Director, Today FM), Hugh Murray, Steve Averill (U2 Designer), Alan McEvoy, Nick Kelly, and many more.

Speaking about the course, director Jackie Hayden says, "It is designed to give people an overview of every aspect of the business. Because the lecturers are among the leading professionals in their field, participants in the course have access to an extraordinary level of accumulated knowledge and experience."

Key subjects covered in the course include Management, Music on the Internet, Record Companies, Music Marketing, Publicity, Image Development, Record Production, Songwriting, Music Publishing, Working with the Media, Finance, Touring and Distribution.

MIX '08 runs at The Holiday Inn, Pearse St, Dublin every Tuesday at 7.30pm from September 23 to December 09, 2008.
