hotpress.com members update: "Comfy crappers and posh washes..."
7 September 2007
What day is it?
Are we late or something? Sorry, have I been asleep? Ohmigod, it's Friday...
As you can tell, the HP team are currently suffering through the jet lag-like aftermath of covering three days of extraordinary music that was the Electric Picnic. But that will not stop us from our great mission, which is to give you something to smile about!
So, first of, a big Big Up to all those who correctly identified last week's lyrical selection.
"You scream and you holla 'bout my Chevy Impala," we quoted,
"But the sweat is getting wet 'round the ring 'round your collar
But like a dream I'm flowing without no stopping
Sweeter than cherry pie with ready whip topping."
It was, of course, 'So What'cha Want' by Picnic stars, The Beastie Boys.
A new week, a new lyric. Have a go at this one, friends...
"Good thieves of burning cars encirle poisoned rivers minds and hearts
Horses want to dance but find their wings are damaged, water damaged
Gold is selling now but hurry mighty ocean rising fast
A big man with a Plan has got a storm a coming
Monster coming"
Ready, steady... go!

A word to the wise. This year's Music Ireland is shaping up to be a cracking weekend. On the fun side there'll be a competition to decide who is IRELAND'S FASTEST DRUMMER. And, on the games front, Ireland's champion guitar hero will also be crowned!
There'll be lots of wisdom (and great yarns) passed on by people who know the business inside out – including Stephen Street (producer of The Smiths and Blur, among others) and Geoff Travis (of Rough Trade and currently manager of the great Jarvis Cocker).
The fascinating exhibition of U2's artwork 'Stealing Hearts At A Travelling Show' will make its European debut at the event. And Prince's drummer John Blackwell will be on hand to give a demonstration of stick-work at its most remarkable and brilliant. In other words, it's Be There Or Be Square time. Say no more...
