Ireland v Oman in London
The FAI announced today that Ireland will play Oman in a friendly in Craven Cottage on Sept 1th at 7.45pm.
I think Lady Gaga's concert is the reason why the Aviva isnt available. Some people are complaining about the opposition selection, but I for one don't fully approve of having games in England when there's perfectly good stadia elsewhere in the country (Thomond Park for example) that will do a good job hosting an international friendly. Over the past few years, we've played a few "home" friendlies in London.
Thoughts?

September 1th? Tinnypark is free and has been for years. We look forward to seeing all the Omanisers in Kilkenny.

Oops. Sept 11th, of course.

Trying to remember - is Ciaran Clark in the squad for the upcoming friendly? Positive words about him, playing in the centre-half position for Villa. Trap would be mad not to secure his future with us, sharp-ish...

seriously if Ciaran Clark is fit and he isn't in the squad this another piece of shite by Trappatoni.
Honestly he'll make my head explode.

Memory is that he isn't but I might be wrong. I'm sure the squad is in a thread but I haven't had time to dig!

No Clark isnt in the Squad - St Ledger pulled out injured so Trap, in his awesomemess called up a midfielder who plays right full (Joey O'Brien) as cover for a centre half!!!
WTF?
 From : number10 Posted : 10/08/12 at 15:02
Actually, that is one of the more bonkers decisions he's made. It suggests that he had forgotten about Clark - who is obviously a much better fill-in for St.Ledger than O'Brien.

Not that I'd begrudge O'Brien a run - he's a decent footballer. But he has to be behind Clark in terms of a place in the Trap scheme of things.

total farce, they go into debt for a new stadium - then start playing matches in london,no respect for the fans.

Delaney is swanning around london in his Olympic role.

Holohan was eventually called up into squad - when he was injured!

Seems no one knows how to talk on the telephone anymore.

Some of the stuff that's done by text is unbelievable. I really, truly, wish that someone could get us out of this Trap madness...

We're caught in a Trap
Why can't he see what he's doing to us?
We can't go on together.....

"I care because I am an enormous fan of the boys in green and always have been. I want my national team's home games staged in Ireland - not in England or anywhere else. That's all."

Quite. I have no doubt your a fan of the Rep. of Ireland national team. But I had a trawl through your blog and I can't find one single post referring to club teams that actually play soccer in Ireland.

One legacy of these Games worth having would be a demand from the replica-shirt buying public, long fed "the price of everything" ethos of the Premiership, for a resurgence in values of sportsmanship. The football season starts next weekend, and rarely can there have been less appetite for sheikh-and-oligarch-funded hundred-grand-a-week egos

Listen, Snapshot, I don't think any of that Olympic shit is going to make a blind bit of difference to the way football is viewed, once the season starts. The majority of fans are almost totally blind to the stupidities of their own clubs and players. The only thing they really object to is not winning games.

in fairness to Rob I'm pretty sure i've seen him both write about Bohs and even play gigs at Dalyer.
 From : number10 Posted : 13/08/12 at 17:48
That's Rob Marley you're thinking of! Playing gigs at Dalymount, I mean...

Well, this and this are two posts about Irish football on my blog.

But I do my bit for the league, in case you think I don't. I have, for a couple of seasons now, been a season ticket holder at Dalymount Park. I've done a few gigs at the ground to try help raise a few bob for Bohs, who are really strapped for cash. Enter raffles - never win, mind you.
