GAME OF THRONES
Has anyone done a thread on this yet? If so, oh well!! Only discovered this about a month ago and I've long since finished watching all two seasons. It's FUCKING AMAZING. If you haven't watched it already- go do it NOW.

Lots of Irish actors in it too- your man Joffrey actually studies Geography in Trinity so I hear. What an amazing actor he is...

I haven't seen a full episode but I've know that it's been on RTÉ2 for a few months now, at the very reasonable hour of 2 or 3am. I saw the end of it a few times and noticed the Irish cast and crew in the credits. I'm just after checking, and it is mainly filmed in Northern Ireland, but also in Malta, Croatia, Iceland, and Morocco.

I watched both seasons when they were shown on Sky Atlantic. Its a great tv series.I didn`t read the books though.Typical RTE to be showing it at that time in the morning considering the amount of reality crap they show these days.I have been watching Awake on sky atlantic too and its not bad but it has been cancelled in the US so thats the end of that.

I haven't seen it at all - what time's it on?
 From : tricky Posted : 22/07/12 at 11:33
ooops
sorry tornaxx now I see. What the hell is it doing on then?
 From : tornaxx Posted : 22/07/12 at 11:59
In case you might see it...

Lots of violence in it and some explicit sex so the sages in RTE have decided that we need another watershed for that kind of thing.

Wilko Johnson has a cameo role in the first series. Still as manic as ever, I see. Some grandad rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUrH4NrqIjw

Will have to relearn the link code....yet again!

there's watershed and there's middle of the night.

Am I right in saying it's all a bit masculine?
 From : rowan Posted : 22/07/12 at 16:37
a tv series is a hell of a commitment. might give that one about sparticus a go. the one where the main actor died. anyone seen it? not sure exactly what it's called.

i hear one of the main islands in game of thrones is just ireland upside down with a few small edits

Where better to practice? Those are ex-Blockheads with Wilko in the Jool Holland clip. Here they are with their original leader Ian Dury with Wilko as guest.

Hmmm, the bassist maybe but not the drummer..
 From : cyberbuli Posted : 23/07/12 at 11:04
Yes, it is 'a bit masculine'. Nothing wrong with macho stuff at normal hours, in my opinion. Breaking Bad would be considered macho also.
 From : tornaxx Posted : 23/07/12 at 11:35
Wha'? Breaking Bad is chick-lit-stuff...
 From : cyberbuli Posted : 23/07/12 at 14:38
Yes, it is just like Fade Street.

Wilko plays Ilyn Payne. Wikipedia entry: "Ser Ilyn, also called "The King's Justice," is the mute royal executioner. He lost his tongue for speaking ill of Aerys II during the "Mad King's" reign. It is he who carries out Joffrey's order to execute Eddard Stark. He's currently holding Ned's sword Ice."

He does appear in series 3 also when Joffrey and co are under seige. I'll offer no more spoilers!

Getting ahead of myself there. Season 3 is only being filmed now. RR Martin has not even finished writing the series of 7 books yet so he will be in the JK Rowling league of millionaires by the time he does. Must read the books to compare with the series.

Wilko has a bit of a medieval look about him alright...
