I refuse to go to this film unless it is about a Swedish nose-flute player, lost in a desert, looking for his weeping camel... who is blind... and possibly pregnant And it must be on at the IFI, cost €15 a ticket, have subtitles, be in black and white, and last no less than six hours.

So... is it?

You're actually not that far off with the Flute thing, believe it or not

Cool. Now we're talking.

Forgot to say though, no 3D. Since the nice eye doctors broke my right eye, 3D aint so hot. Actually the sooner they feck off with 3D the better.

I haven't seen a 3D film yet. Or a 3D movie. I don't think my life is lacking because of it. (My life might be lacking, but it's nothing to do with 3D.)

Are there any films about Icelandic accordion players on the go these days?
 From : skennedy Posted : 06/06/12 at 17:41
Excellent question. To be honest, I haven't seen a good one since Aðalmundsson Hafthorsson tragically fell off the Magnusson fjord in 1971. We'll hardly see the like of him again.

Any 3D I've seen is pretty fucking useless.

In relation to ProMEATHius, I'm definitely against Meath. Aggressive bunch of boggers. Apart from Sean Boylan.

Tornaxx - funnily enough there's a concertina (with a Steven Stills reference) in Prometheus

Never seen a 3 d film either - and probably never will.
 From : tornaxx Posted : 06/06/12 at 20:05
Seriously? I was in Iceland this date last year. And in 2004 (I think) I saw the petite ex-singer of the Icelandic band, Múm, play the accordion in The Village. And earlier this year, I bought a concertina (and a psaltery).

And Prometheus was the Greek god of fire. I learnt Biblical Greek for three years when I was in college.

Am I stretching this a bit? (But everything I said was true...)

That Tron film was by far the best thing in 3d. Well worth the format. Not much else has been.

Prometheus was okish. A sort of 5.5/10. Great visually and decent sort of tension building scenes. Jaysus, the plot was a bit shit though.

The Raid is much, much better

I've only seen Avatar in 3d and to be honest I didn't really care for the effect. Part of the skill in cinema was crafting things to be more then they were, 3d is an opt out of that.

for what it's worth, Prometheus wasn't the God of Fire, but the guy (a titan) who gave fire to mortal man (Some myths have him giving, some having him restoring the use of to) and that pissed of grumpy Zeus. Grumpy Zeus than punished him by binding him to a mountain in the Caucauses and getting an Eagle to eat his liver every day. Being immortal the liver would grow back again over night and he'd have it eaten again.

When I heard of Prometeus the movie I thought it was going to be about him, and was very excited about the prospects.

Have not seen it yet but it was always going to be compared with the original Alien film by the same director Rdiley Scott who did not direct subsequents Alien films until this one.

Top marks on your Greek mythology there, tricky. Tornaxx, a pass but you must do better!
 From : tornaxx Posted : 08/06/12 at 15:42
I knew that he gave fire to people but I was too lazy to explain stuff. Even though it's been explained, I'm still too lazy to explain.
 From : number10 Posted : 08/06/12 at 16:15
That's a pity because a lot of us are very stupid...
 From : tornaxx Posted : 08/06/12 at 16:19
Ah well...

*Pats people on the head*

;-)

tis a good story though Prometheus Bound. As for The Medea, now there's a modern tale if ever there was one.
