Aslan reduce ticket prices by 50%
Does that mean their fans that already bought their tickets have ended up paying twice as much as everyone else?

That doesn't seem fair.

And, no, I'm not going. It just seems a strange way for any band to treat their fans.

Aslan at Tallaght Stadium?

Superb.
 From : skennedy Posted : 31/05/12 at 09:51
I only realised recently that 'This Is' and 'Crazy World' are similar songs - I mean musically.

Aslan would not be unfair to their fans about shit like this. Refunding 50% is the only way to go - but if they've gone it, good on them.

I would say Aslan probably realise the importance of their fans more than most bands given that they make their living from playing live shows around Ireland mainly.

To be fair to them, I think they understand what their fans would and wouldn't put up with

I wonder does that mean it's going to be put on at a loss now. If not, they must have planning on making a nice bit from it. I hope they pull it off anyway, not a fan, but enjoyed the interview with Christy in Hotpress a few weeks back, and he seemed cool, I liked his dig at Bressie, that guy bugs the shit out of me. Stuff surrounding the band annoys me though, this idea that they're the hardest working band in Ireland, when they're probably one of the laziest
 From : randumpunter Posted : 31/05/12 at 16:53
what did he say about Bressie?
 From : smurke Posted : 31/05/12 at 17:33
"what did he say about Bressie?"

something about only selling albums because he's on some shitty talent show, which is probably true
 From : number10 Posted : 31/05/12 at 18:26
I remember reading that. Not sure that he said the albums were shitty. He thought the Voice was shitty, and that it was bad to see someone selling records just because they appeared on a show like that.

Bit of an odd gripe if you ask me.
 From : smurke Posted : 31/05/12 at 19:51
no, he didn't make any comment about the music, just that he wouldn't be satisfied knowing he was selling albums due to the popularity of a tv show he was on, and that's fair enough.

Well...gig cancelled due to ticket sales. A shame. The 30th anniversary of the band coulda been marked in style.

My wife was talking to someone that has something to do with the promoter of the show and said ticket sales were very very poor. Only 1500-2000 tickets sold out of, i think, a 20,000 capacity gig.

It's a pity, Rob. 30 years together for any band is a miracle. A few nights in Vicar Street would have been the best way to celebrate it. It really is tough selling tickets in this economic environment.

Can't say I'm overly surprised, they can't sell out Dolans and they're trying to sell out a football stadium.

Christy's spot on about Bressie (whoever he is, I'm blissfully unaware of him and his music) - he played Dolans Upstairs last year, tickets were around 8e and something like twenty people show up... now he's playing at the Milk Market Big Top and charging 20 quid
 From : skennedy Posted : 08/06/12 at 11:44
I can't name a single Bressie song - or any of the songs from The Blizzards. I feel like that woman on the bus in 2006 who didn't know what a tracker mortgage is.

Christ, I should have gone for a tracker!
 From : tricky Posted : 08/06/12 at 13:38
I suppose the hope was it'd be a celebratory day out. The football actually probably hasn't helped, in that there's loads of people who're spending a decent chunk of change on going and then the rest of us are planning our lives around television viewing.
We'll only move on from it after it's over and that's obviously too late for them to shift the tickets.

Sure a lot of their fans are on the way to Poznan right now!
 From : smurke Posted : 10/06/12 at 10:58
exactly Hydra. Just before Christmas there was around 50 copies of his album in Golden Discs, in the bragain bin for €4.99, after the Voice, they went back up to full price, and were sold in vloume to teenage girls.

I've heard one or two of his songs, I know someone who fancies him, seems to be pretty much how he secures his fans, it was a protest thing, and was definitely one fo the worst songs I've ever heard

Yer man from the Kaiser Chiefs is on Sunday Brunch. More importantly, so are Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh and Lenora Critchlow.
 From : number10 Posted : 10/06/12 at 15:53
I'm sure they're only gorgeous, but who the fuck are Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh and Lenora Critchlow?
 From : cyberbuli Posted : 11/06/12 at 16:00
Sharon is rugger bugger Shane Horgan's sister and a writer, actress & comedienne more importantly. Had to google the others but they all have Wikipedia entries. I guess you are somebody if you're on wikipedia nowadays.
 From : number10 Posted : 11/06/12 at 20:14
Ah! I think I recall reading something about yon Sharon along the way. Quite attractive if I recall correctly...
