The Raid
|
I'm not a big action movie fan, but the reviews for The Raid have all been 5 out of 5, so I had to take a look. I'm a sheep like that. And, sure enough, it's an orgy of brilliantly stylised violence; but there is feck all emotional attachment with any of the characters in it. Sort of like watching my younger brother playing a 90 minute computer game. Hell, I could really do with a slow French film to slow me down again.

| have you been checking out those fine Scandinavian detective series on BBC 4 they're often delightfully meandering while pulsating at the same time (that's quite a trick!)

Went to see the Bill Cunningham documentary last night as an antidote to The Raid... just to help me calm the newly discovered urge to break into Liberty Hall and run to the top of the gaff whilst throwing strangers through windows. Anyway, Bill Cunningham... I'm not really a man for fashion, but he was an interesting subject. An unusual character who clearly loves his life. He's crap with nunchucks though.
