Riptide Movement
I just noticed that The Riptide Movement have made the cover of HP. Fair play to them. They really are the hardest working band in the land.

skennedy, the sooner they ban any form of electrical amplification for busking on Grafton St, the better!

You have a point, Snapshot.

But TRM do work their arses off. They shifted well over 10,000 copies of their first album busking.

i like the noise they make on graft'n street.

The new album is a good old fashioned rock'n'roll record. Nothing wrong with that!

Fair play to the lads!! There an amazing band, they know how the landscape of music has changed and they're working it! The album's a cracker and fair play to hot press for supporting them!

This is nothing to do with the quality of the music but, every time I walk down Grafton Street and see a band with a full rig set up, it just makes me a little bit angry.

Worst busking offenders on Grafton St:
That guy dressed in the Tiger costume.
Pan Pipes played to a backing track.
Any guitarist playing to a backing track.
Those guys that do the those "space paintings".
The people watching those guys doing the "space paintings" thinking "oh isn't that original" despite there being a space painter in every city in the world.
Bands with a full electric amplification and a full kit. If you want a gig, then do a gig, but quit thinking that the rest of us want to listen to you.
Buskers that can't sing.
Buskers that can't play.
Fuck it, buskers.

you should try it s'metime. you learn a lot about people wh'n you're busking. it's not as easy as it looks, to do enough to earn some decent quids.

Snapshot, I can only hope and pray that Glen Hansard or Gabrielle y Rodrigo never stumble upon this thread. It would be the end of them.

Fuck that. I've no problem with a small amp or two on the go and busking is one of the great parts of city life in Dublin. I do agree with you about the guys with the space paintings though - what the fuck is all that about
 From : number10 Posted : 04/05/12 at 17:47
I'm all for the amps. They drown out the guy with the accordeon!

In fairness it doesnt take too much to make you angry now does it?
 From : rowan Posted : 05/05/12 at 10:34
last time i saw the lads busking, both their drummer's hands were bleeding on that box. talk about dedication to the cause. didn't stop me shaking his hand...
