They say you shouldn’t self-diagnose, but when Caught in the Net had cause to visit www.associatedcontent.com for health reasons recently, we were amazed to discover Anatidaephobia, which is, of all things, a fear that you are being watched by a duck.
Unfortunate sufferers face the world each morning thinking that out there, somewhere, a duck is watching their every move. It’s not known yet if other waterfowl have the same effect.
To prove we’re not ducking around (stop it now – Ed) over at www.cnn.com they’re suggesting that Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster Inception may have been based on an old Donald Duck cartoon.
The evidence is compelling as CNN point out that the plot to Uncle Scrooge: The Dream of a Lifetime – which sees the dastardly Beagle Boys enter Scrooge McDuck’s dreams to steal the code to his safe – is almost identical to Nolan’s $500 million earning movie.
If you prefer your movies bite-sized then you could do worse that clicking on www.angryalien.com, a site that features a collection of your favourite movies, re-enacted by a troupe of cartoon bunnies in 30 seconds.
Classics like It’s a Wonderful Life and A Clockwork Orange as well summer blockbusters like Jurassic Park and Jaws are all given the bunny treatment but Caught in the Net’s personal favourite has to be the 30 second version of Reservoir Dogs. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen cartoon rabbits swearing and shooting each other.
It’s an excellent way to waste an afternoon, as is playing “guess the song” using www.rockabyebabymusic.com.
The website, which turns your favourite songs from musicians such as Kanye West, Green Day, The Beatles and Nirvana into lullabies, provides the perfect gift for new parents of a muso persuasion.
However, even if you’re not going to buy, the site lets you sample every song so you can spend hours testing your friends or colleagues on their knowledge of rock and pop music. Some of them, we’re looking at you Radiohead, are even better than the originals.
Which just leaves time for quick visits to www.icanhazcheezburger.com (funny pictures of ‘lolcats’), www.failblog.org (making you feel good about your day, at the expense of others of course) and www.eeuauaughhhuauaahh.ytmnd.com (which is just, well, weird).
